When its just the kids and I - we go to McDonald's and instead of buying kids meals, we get the 2 Cheeseburger meal (they don't have it on the menu, but it is available) and then I add one extra hamburger. The kids and I share the fries, because I can't eat them all anyway. And we share the drink, its a fountain drink - so I get as many refills as we want. And we each have a cheeseburger or hamburger. It fills me up and the kids! And sometimes they don't even eat all of theirs so we have some of theirs left. It usually cost around $6. And that's for two kids and myself! Not bad and I've done it forever... -Candace

We love Chik-Fil-A on Family night! Mainly because there is one in this town that gives free kids meals on their family night! I've also done the splitting of the chicken nuggets value meals to stretch meals!

We rarely eat out because of the cost, but we often find coupons for fast food and take our own drinks and eat it in the car or a park.

If we go out to eat we usually have a BOGO entree coupon and the kids split a meal....Also we order waters. I always make sure to tip the server according to what the check WOULD have been had we not had the coupon. They have bills to pay for too and we don't take advantage!!

One of the ways we make sure to dine out as cheaply as possible is by using coupons for restaurants or from Groupon. We also try to split food if possible, or just go out for coffee or dessert.

When we dine out for cheap we try to go to Wendy's and order the $2.99 chicken sandwich meal. It includes Chicken sandwich, medium fry, and a medium drink. We also have gotten frosties and you can use the keychain frosty tag that you buy for $1.00 to get it for free for your next purchases through Dec 2010. That's dinner and dessert for under $10 bucks! Wahoo!

I just shared this on facebook as well. :)

It's just my daughter and myself so I take advantage of signing up with places to eat. We almost always have a coupon of some sort to cut costs. It's my birthday this month, so I have gotten several nice free things!

We try to plan our out dinners to places that are cheap: Del Taco's Tuesday night cheap tacos are our favorite!

For fast food restaurant, we try to find coupons to go with. Also when Hub and I decide to have a date night out, we skip drinks and desserts.

I go to fast food restaurants with the dollar menu! It's a great way to save money! I can order a whole meal for $3, and the food's usually not that bad either. My fav is Burger King Crispy Chicken Sandwich's for a buck! Furthermore, if you order a drink off the dollar menu they are good for free refills! kytah00@yahoo.com

First, you order water instead of soda or tea. Next, we only go places that I have a coupon for a discount card (my area has two different discount cards we bought for $5 each.)

I make sure all my family members are signed up for the different restaurants who have birthday "treats" Since the birthdays are spread out throughout the year and I combine them with other deals like kids eat free and other coupons we can have a nice family night out often!

Ashley Elaine said...

We sign up for coupons via email and sometimes get lucky when they come in the mail but sometimes they aren't that great so we typically stick to the lower cost items, never adding or super sizing which helps the waistline as well as the wallet.

We all order water, drinks are a killer. We also order something we like that is big - chicken fried steak and split it. Lastly, we also respond to the after dining survey. At Mimi's Cafe in Pearland, TX it provided us with 4 free muffins when we did the survey at our table on our cell phone and they we picked up the muffins on our way for ZERO!

I use BOGO coupons from www.reservationrewards.com! My husband and I love the many options of eating out that we wouldn't ever eat before.

We always use the $1 coupon booklet from McD's to feed the kids which have free hamburger, fries, milk, apple dippers and ice cream coupons.

I love using Restaurant.com -- they have so many coupon codes that we often get $25 gift certificates for just $2. jfsarma at gmail dot com

Order water and split meals....and free kids nights don't hurt

Our favorite way to eat out on the cheap is to watch for deals and coupons to be posted online, like when Chick-fil-a has a giveaway or recently Backyard Burger had a coupon for a free burger when you joined their mailing list.

We get Chinese take-out from a restaurant in the mall. I share a plate with my two youngest kids. There is always enough food for two meals. Also, my husband used to work with the owner, so our drinks are always free.

We dine out frugally by always sharing one meal and ordering water. Not only is this simple to do, but restaurant dinners are always over portioned and we end up eating less as well! Dinner for two from a nice restaurant is usually only about $15.00! Some of our favorite places are Chili's, Outback, and Ruby Tuesdays which usually have coupons since they are large chains, which helps out as well. If we eat out at a local restaurant (not a chain) we usually order the special and prices (as well as the wait!) are sometimes better on weeknights since business is slower!
