My daughter has been reading a story in her classroom about a little girl who wants to start her own bakery. Today in class, they got to do something fun, make some apple pies of their own! She really enjoyed it and wanted bake some with her friends when she got home. She began telling me everything we need to make it, and luckily I had everything to make it work.
So with that, we made our own quick and easy version of baked apple pies. Not to mention, can be very inexpensive with the use of sales and coupons! In fact you could probably make a few batches of these for just about $3 as a couponer!
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 Can of Jumbo Biscuits (8ct)
1 Jar of Apple Sauce, Chunky (We only used 1/3 of the jar!)
Cinnamon- optional (or you can buy cinnamon flavored applesauce)
Bottle of Spray Butter
Granulated Sugar or Powdered Sugar (Whichever you prefer)
AND.....
Some Eager Bakers!
(my daughter and her friends)
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Open Canned Biscuits and Flatten out as much as possible.
Step 3: Put a tablespoon size of apple sauce in the middle of flattened dough (make sure not to overfill), sprinkle with some cinnamon and then close it by folding it over in half.
Step4: Use a fork to "seal" the edges of the folded closed pie, it also adds the decoration factor of each pie!
Step 5: Spray a pan, or casserole dish with butter, or oil and then lay each pie out with a little room between each.
Step 6: Put in 350 degree oven for 18 minutes. When they are done, take them out and spray a couple of squirts of butter on top of each pie and then sprinkle the sugar on them.
Step 7: Enjoy!
This was a lot of fun and very easy and inexpensive to do! You really only need to watch for biscuits and apple sauce to go on sale. The other stuff you probably already have on hand!
I do think these would be more enjoyable in the cooler months. The recipe is pretty easy to adjust to something that anyone can like. I actually think next time I will use the Honey Butter version of the Grands Biscuits. I think that would make them even better!
I hope you enjoyed this Idea and thanks for reading!
